Follow this guide for console-like experience on your PC

Select your display type

Set FPS Limit

Launch framepacer and set your FPS. Set a target that your PC can consistently achieve and maintain, and never set it higher than your monitors refresh rate. To avoid conflicts, turn off all other limiters. Check recommended FPS values for various games below.

Enable V-Sync

Enable V-Sync in your game options. This perfectly aligns each produced frame with your monitors display cycles. It entirely removes irritating horizontal cuts in the image (screen tearing) and keeps it together for a clean, steady presentation.

Enable Motion Blur

Enable Motion Blur in the game settings. It mimics how real cameras and our own eyes perceive quick movement. When you turn the camera, motion blur softens the movement rather than creating a sequence of disconnected pictures. It fills in the gaps between frames, resulting in a smooth gaming experience.

Play with a Gamepad (Controller)

Connect a gamepad (controller) for the smoothest experience. Analog sticks feel smooth at all FPS levels, however a mouse requires significantly higher FPS to feel the same.

By pacing frames with high precision, it ensures every single picture is delivered to your screen with identical timing, giving you that smooth console experience.

Simply look at the framepacer app's live graph while playing. When the graph is flat and green, it indicates that your game is showing images at a consistent rate, providing you with the best possible experience.

40 FPS is the ideal sweet spot for most games. While it is only 10 frames higher than 30 FPS, it actually generates 33% more frames. This small boost makes games feel significantly more fluid while still letting you max out your game's graphics.

Compared to running unlimited, framepacer may increase input lag, but the difference is barely noticeable. Compared to V-Sync, framepacer has significantly lower input lag.

Yes, but be cautious in competitive games. Games with aggressive anti-cheat systems (such as Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, or Vanguard) may flag external utilities. To avoid being banned, we recommend not using it with games that use anti-cheat systems.

Make sure your game is set to "Borderless Fullscreen" mode. If your game is in "Exclusive Fullscreen" mode, the game will completely cover your screen, hiding the app even after pinning it.

This usually means your PC is struggling to hit your target FPS. If your target is set to 80 FPS but your computer can only handle 76 FPS, the graph will spike. Try lowering your graphics settings or target FPS (for example, from 80 to 75) until the graph stays flat.
